Capo 2: Reverse Engineering Rock and Roll

February 13th, 2012

Waterloo, Ontario (PRWEB) September 17, 2010

SuperMegaUltraGroovy, maker of Capo software, has released Capo 2.0 for Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. Capo helps musicians learn to play the music in their iTunes collection using their ears, and now with version 2.0, their eyes.

“This release marks a huge leap forward in self-directed musical study,” says Chris Liscio, the company’s founder. “Not only can you see the notes you’re hearing, but also how they are being played. This is some really powerful stuff.”

Capo software allows musicians, especially guitar players to learn the music in their iTunes collection by simply dragging songs into the software to take advantage of its many features. Capo can slow the music down to a tempo thats comfortable for learning a solo or passage, change the pitch to match your tuning or range, insert markers for verses, choruses, and bridges, and add effects like panning, EQ, and vocal reduction. Capo 2.0 takes this concept further by featuring a detailed spectrogram for visual learning and adding the ability to detect and enter chord progressions, automatically generate TAB. Capo can even export your adjusted music so you can take it with you and learn on the go.

“Months of research and development went into the Capo 2.0 release,” says Liscio. “This was not only due to the complexity of the algorithms involved, but also the powerful new interface that allows users to quickly tab out the music they wish to play.”

Price and Availability:

Capo 2.0 is a $ 19 (USD) upgrade for existing users that purchased Capo before May 2010, and $ 49 (USD) for new users. A 5-pack of licenses is available for families at a price of $ 89. Capo is compatible with all Macs running Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. Information about Capo, and a free trial download can be found at: http://www.capoapp.com.

InventHelp? Client Invents “Guitar Music Mask” — An Invention That Could Help to Improve Guitar Playing Skills

        February 13th, 2012

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 9, 2008

InventHelp?, America’s largest inventor service company, announces that one of its clients, an inventor from Palmdale, Calif., has designed a device that uses LEDs to teach proper finger positioning. This invention is patented and a prototype is available.

The “Guitar Music Mask” could display chord positions on a guitar in any key. The device could enable novice guitar players to improve their technique quickly and easily. The unit could enable players to accompany any song in any key that utilizes harmonic scales. The invention would be easy to set up and use.

The Guitar Music Mask would consist of a strip of molded plastic measuring 24-inches long, ?-inch wide and ?-inch thick, a control box and a power cord. A plastic strip would house a series of two-color light emitting diodes (LEDs). A user would affix the strip to the top edge of a guitar’s fretboard. The control box would attach to the lower body of the guitar and contain circuitry that would be programmed to outline the five pentatonic patterns. The circuitry activates the LEDs in groups, with one red light that would indicate the key; the rest of the activated lights would be green and show the remaining groups before and after the red LEDs. Once the device is in place, a user would index the system so that the red LED is at the key note position on the sixth string. The red LED could be moved to any fret and the remaining patterns follow. The unit would include a simplified six-page instruction manual and interactive DVD to expedite the learning process. The unit could be offered as an accessory for existing guitars or incorporated into the design of new models.

InventHelp? is attempting to submit the invention to companies for review. If substantial interest is expressed, the company will attempt to negotiate for a sale or royalties for the inventor. For more information, telephone Dept. 04-GDA-2672 at (800) 851-6030. Renowned Guitarist Dyce Kimura Releases 4th Free Lesson on YouTube, is Now Available for Lessons on Skype

                    February 12th, 2012

Fort lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

This video promises to have absolute beginners of all ages in momentsno matter this age. Dyces ability to get students playing the guitar right away is winning him lots of new students. First, Dyce shows students the right information. More importantly, he then immediately shows them how to apply that information to make great, fun-to-play music. With Dyces guidance, any student can turn notes into chords, and chords into cool-sounding grooves. This Fort Lauderdale guitar teacher has methods are so easy that anyone watching this video will be able to quickly play the groove in questioneven if they are picking up the guitar for the first time.

Dyces lesson #4 covers just the chords D Major and G Major. Dyce isolates these two chords, showing their similarities and differences. Both have lots of open strings, and warm, happy sounds. Dyce also urges his students to not get hung upon the fingerings, or making the chords sound perfect. Instead, he gets students to jump right into the groove, by focusing on switching back and forth between the two sounds. This gives beginning guitarists a real confidence boostas they start playing a great-sounding jam right away. It also helps that the video features expert productioncomplete with easy-to-read graphicswhere students can clearly see how to finger both chords on the fret-board.

This Weston guitar teacher also gives some great advice to approaching the guitar that any beginner can use: dont spend too much time staring at the fret-board. Many beginning students spend too much time staring at their hands, making them fall prey to bad habits later on, like bad posture, and bad form. By urging students to not look at their handsfrom the very first lessonDyce is getting these beginners to play with more confidence, and avoid some common bad habits.

Dyces 1-on-1 Weston guitar lessons and Skype guitar lessons are popular for a reason: they make learning just so easy. All that is required is a high-speed internet connection, a webcam and micstandard on any newer computer, a Skype account (easy to create), and headphones (optional).

Grammy Survey Shows: Almost Every Guy Wants to Make Out With Katy Perry

                          February 12th, 2012

                          Berlin/Zurich – Germany/Switzerland (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

If the jury of this years Grammy Awards only consisted of men, US pop star Katy Perry would have by far the best chances of winning the most important award in the industry. Music flirting website Fellody, which matches singles based on their taste in music, asked its users which Grammy nominee is the hottest?

Men cant get enough of Katy Perry
According to the votes of all male respondents, Katy Perry was light years ahead of her competitors and thus the hottest female Grammy nominee 2012. With songs like ‘I kissed a girl’ and her on-stage kiss with a fan, newly single Perry definitely knows how to use her musical persuasiveness.

The result: Three out of four of her admirers said they would not hesitate to go to bed with her. When it comes to sex appeal, she clearly triumphs over her Grammy rivals Taylor Swift (second place) and Beyonce (third place). Power voice Adele, who is still the most promising nominee for several Grammys, might be musically convincing, but ends up 7th place with the men in the sex appeal ranking. Another singer with apparently next to no sexiness is soul queen Kelly Price, who ended up at the bottom of the ranking.

Sexy bodies of Jay-Z, Kanye West & Co. leave women cold

Anyone believing that women are turned on by the flexed bodies of RnB- and HipHop Stars seems to be on the wrong track. Kanye West, Jay-Z (both 7th place) and Chris Brown (6th place) have virtually no fans on the female side. Only worse off is star DJ David Guetta, who takes last position. Apparently, pop music singers with loud guitars are much more popular with the opposite sex. Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon and shooting star Bruno Mars share the top position in the attractiveness ranking. Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl and Gwyneth Paltrows husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, are closely behind in third and fourth position.

Survey details: The survey was running for four weeks from mid-December 2011 to mid-January 2012. Fellody asked members and Facebook fans of age 16 and older to participate and 526 men and women took part in the survey. The detailed results can be found here and also on the Fellody blog.

Line 6 DT25 Guitar Amplifiers Combine Boutique Tube Design with HD Modeling

                              February 11th, 2012

Anaheim, Calif. (PRWEB) January 19, 2012

Line 6 (room 212A/B) is showing the DT25 family of amplifiers at Winter NAMM 2012. The portable, new 25W/10W tube amps, which include DT25 112 Combo, DT25 Head, and DT25 112 Extension Cab, deliver boutique sound and performance via a uniquely versatile design by renowned amp designer Reinhold Bogner and advanced HD modeling technology from Line 6.

DT25 is like four boutique tube amps in one, remarked Elliot Chenault, Line 6 Product Manager. Bogners innovative design applies reconfigurable analog components to provide incredible sonic flexibility and the rich tone, feel and touch response his amps are known for.

The new amplifiers provide guitarists with four guitar amp voicings, or sonic signatures: American clean, British crunch, Class A chime and modern high-gain. Each voicing is the perfect combination of negative feedback loop topology and HD preamp and tone stack modeling. Add to that the reconfigurable operating class (Class AB/25 Watts/Fixed Bias or Class A/10 Watts/Cathode Biased) and power tube mode (Pentode or Triode) and guitarists can dial in classic vintage tones or highly customized originals of their own creation.

The simple, two-channel design provides uncommon flexibility. Each channel is independent not clean or dirty and any configuration of voicing, operating class and power tube mode can be dialed in to either channel. A flick of the A/B switch (or a tap of a latching footswitch) is capable of causing a full analog and digital transformation.

DT25 amplifiers feature L6 LINK jacks for connection to new Line 6 POD? HD multi-effect processors. When connected, the POD HD adds effects, additional amp voicings, foot control and instant scalability (including stereo operation with multiple DT25 amplifiers). The amplifiers back panels also feature MIDI I/O, a serial effect loop, multiple speaker outs and a direct out with cabinet simulation, which provides the rich DT25 tone without having to mic the speaker.

DT25 amplifiers feature one 12AX7 and two EL84 tubes, custom-voiced Celestion? G12H90 speakers, and modeled spring reverb with individual level control per channel.

                                February 11th, 2012

San Francisco, CA / New York, NY (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

Rocket21 (the new social network where kids explore amazing possibilities for their lives and futures) and West Coast Songwriters (the most active non-profit music organization in the U.S., offering education, opportunity and networking to songwriters) announced the winners of a two month national youth songwriting contest. The contest, presented on Rocket21.com and sponsored by West Coast Songwriters, encouraged self-expression and creativity among youth by encouraging them to write lyrics about anti-bullying, their dreams for the future, love and more.

Dream in Tune is the latest wave in Rocket21s Dream Here — Dream Big Contest Series. Students from across the country competed online at Rocket21.com, and received guidance and encouragement from a panel of successful music industry professionals.

Charlotte Graham, an 8th grader from the Chicago area, was selected as the Grand Prize Winner for her song Together Make it More. I have worked very hard singing, playing guitar and eventually writing my own songs. Just having the opportunity to enter this contest, get professional feedback and then win gave me hope that just maybe my dreams for becoming a singer-songwriter might actually be a possibility. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I really needed it! said 13-year old Graham. Ms. Graham will experience an unforgettable evening as the guest of a Recording Academy member at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards on February 12th.

The range of topics kids and teens chose to write about (concern and pride for siblings in the military, love for their moms, appreciation for far-flung friends, thought-provoking songs against bullying, and so much more) was extraordinary. The depth of emotion, passion, and earnestness that they brought to the project was inspiring. So much so that were about to announce a second round of competitions for songwriters, said Rocket21 President and COO Jodell Seagrave. Click here for a contest recap, photos of the winners, a link to the winning lyrics, and a video compilation from the contest.

West Coast Songwriters was delighted to be a part of the competition, and to help kids share and refine their personal expression through songwriting as well as to nurture their love of music. We reached out to a group of extraordinary PROs to participate and we were each blown away by the intensity of the competition and the quality of the kids writing, said Ian Crombie, Executive Director, West Coast Songwriters.

2nd place went to Sydney Cearlock, from Decatur, Il. in recognition of her song Thanks to You, a heartfelt tribute to her mother. Lodi, New Jersey student McKenna Pope was selected as 3rd place winner for Rising Up, a passionate song about finding confidence. And Fayetteville, Georgia teen Amber Hartel scored 4th place, for her Path to Nowhere, a powerful anti-bullying tune. Other prizes included studio quality headphones, Rocket21 apparel, and opportunities to attend an online songwriting clinic.

Vajra Plays Their Second Sold-Out Show At The Mercury Lounge in NYC

                                    February 11th, 2012

New York, New York (PRWEB) February 07, 2012

Its the year of the Dragon but Vajra is breathing its own fire. On Friday, January 27, this new hot band played to an over-capacity crowd at The Mercury Lounge in NYC. An eager crowd lined the streets, but only advance ticket holders were allowed to enter. I had friends from India who were texting me that they couldnt get in. I was blown away! Annamaria stated. And we were the opening act! Vajra opened for Killcode, and was followed by Starkiller, The Compulsions and Stoned Fire. The venue was packed the entire evening, proving that the NYC music scene is sizzling.

Performing music from their debut album Pleroma, a haunting exploration of paradox, Vajra mesmerized their audience with a series of dark and hypnotic songs written during Annamaria Pinnas self-imposed exile in India. Eastern Indian themes wove together with melodic, progressive rock creating foreboding and mysterious lullabies, and a stunning new sound.

Annamarias powerful vocals are highlighted by Blake Fleming (ex-The Mars Volta) on drums, Doug Wright (The Dirty Pearls) on bass, and Will Dahl (ex-Harleys War) on guitar. The multi-media show included visuals from projectionist Neon Meow, featuring the art of Kaliptus Wulfgeng.and Reven Noir.

Vajras vocals were co-produced and mixed by Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of A Down, Prince, Johnny Cash. Tom Baker (NIN, Foo Fighters, Ministry, Prince) mastered.

The band is quickly generating a buzz after releasing their first single Inside The Flame. Virgin America selected Vajras single Erode The Will for their In-Flight Entertainment Series, and Vajra’s music is showcased on various internet radio stations, syndicated shows, podcasts, and music websites. In March, the band is invited to play two shows at SXSW in Austin. Details will be announced soon.

Any good band, no matter what the sex of their vocalist, starts with a musician. Someone who can feel the soul inside of music, who can conjure music from their own soul, and express it somehow. Annamaria Pinna is not only a talented musician, but one hell of a conjurer as well. In her voice, there is not only emotion, but power, truth, a sort of sense that there is more to music than just what we can hear. Vajra does not rely on Pinnas presence, or even her strong voice – its clear that the band works as one to create their sound. The music itself is atmospheric, at once ethereal yet stirring. Part of you wants to meditate, part of you wants to move, go out, do things. Just as that paradox exists, there is also a paradox of hard and soft in Vajras sound. Its the kind of music that means something different for each listener, in every different situation its listened to. Vajra have created a world of sound that never falls short of what it promises.

“Vajra – Music with passion. Kudos for creating some music different from everything out there at the moment. There is flavor from other cultures embedded in the music giving it depth and an exotic feel. The artist has an interesting story about their background which seems evident in the sonics and style of their music. It takes me back to the creativity of Kate Bush. I want to see where this artist goes in the future.”

“Vajra was formed by composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Annamaria Pinna [while living] in India, and you can indeed hear an exotic influence in her songs, which though carry a very western tension and darkness. Overall her uptempo music could be described like an alt-rock version of Dead Can Dance. We are sure there is a numerous group of teenagers somewhere in the US suburbs who can fall in love with this lady and her tenebrous music.”

                                        Patrick Heelen: Playing their Song

                                        February 10th, 2012

Noblesville, Indiana (PRWEB) February 04, 2012

The Patrick Heelen Trio will lead a special concert to raise funds for three Noblesville, Indiana, families displaced by Octobers rare tornado outbreak, according to a press statement issued today.

The Patrick Heelen Trio an unusual combination featuring Patrick Heelen on clarinet, Vanessa Williams on cello and David Barros on piano will headline an eclectic and impressive slate featuring six other bands from various national corners, covering musical genres as disparate as classical, country and grunge rock.

This is a real celebration of music, but more importantly its a celebration of community, said Patrick Heelen, a resident of nearby Westfield, Indiana, who spearheaded the fund-raising concert after reading about the Miller, Mattingly and Farber families.

The three families found themselves at ground zero when a series of thunderstorms and tornadoes tore through Indiana on Oct. 27, 2011. According to official reports from the National Weather Service, at least nine tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down during the rare fall outbreak.

Damage was reported across Indiana, from southeast Dearborn County to northwest Porter County. A reported F1 tornado packing 85 mile-per-hour winds reportedly was on the ground for five full minutes, during which time it tore through a Wal-Mart store in Wabash County, while several homes across the state were damaged or destroyed.

Among them: The homes of the Miller, Mattingly and Farber families, clustered together between corn fields in central Noblesville. No member of any of the three families was injured, but the Miller and Farber homes were totaled and the Mattingly household was so damaged that local officials had no choice but to condemn the structure.

Mother Nature can be really fickle, Patrick Heelen noted. Theres no rhyme or reason why these three houses should be destroyed, while rows of houses less than half a mile away were untouched. But they were destroyed, and these families need this communitys help.

Several fund-raisers have occurred since the October storms, all designed to help the three families get through their most trying time. The latest will be the special musical concert scheduled for Feb. 21 at Noblesville High School on Cumberland Road. The event was originally scheduled for Noblesvilles famous Klipsch Music Center, an outdoor amphitheater, but organizers decided to move it indoors rather than risk inclement weather spoiling the fun and lowering the funds.

These people are waiting for our help, Patrick Heelen noted. The last thing we need is a blizzard or something coming along and postponing [the concert].

The Patrick Heelen Trio, which has graved the Klipsch Music Center and other large-scale venues between Indiana and Chicago, is expected to perform several classical selections written by Beethoven and Brahms and rescored for the unusual piano-cello-clarinet combo. Other acts scheduled for the Feb. 21 concert include the Indianapolis-based country music band Freedom Sisters; Indianapolis-based show-tune crooner Gary Brown; Stamford, Conn.-based rockers Space Junk; Portland, Oregon-based garage band Butter Knife Fight; and Spanish guitar experts Tito and Miranda Garza of Corsicana, Texas.

Funds raised by the concert will support house-reconstruction efforts for the Miller, Mattingly and Farber families. According to the statement released today by the Patrick Heelen Trio, about $ 155,000 has already been raised since the first donations were made in November at a special basketball tournament hosted by the Noblesville School District.

These are good people, Patrick Heelen said. And a really terrible thing happened to them, something that could happen to any one of us. As a musician, Im always happy to put on a show. But as a member of this community, we should all be happy to help a neighbor in need, so I hope theres a huge turnout Feb. 21. Should be a great show!
